Tell us about your band members’ musical background and
personality.
Hailstorm:
Our band is into both secular and gospel. We listen to all
sorts of music but we are mostly influenced by rock music.
As individuals each member has different views and attitudes
but when music is concerned we are one. Most of the compose
songs are done by Bassist Avoi Swuro and the music by Lima.
However on the whole, our band really vibes together and we
fell at ease with one another while playing.
Tell us how the band started out
Hailstorm:
We got together at 2004 for the Summer-Jam 2004. Earlier we
were four piece band, then came Guitarist Wati in 2007 and
we’ve been jamming together since. We never knew that we
would come so far. Initially we just started out to
participate for the contest but maybe GOD had other plans
for us and that’s how we as a band got in being.
Which genre of music do you belong?
Hailstorm:
We listen and play all kinds of music but yeah Rock Music
wins the race at the end.
Any composed songs?
Hailstorm:
Yes we do have some few originals and at the moment we are
working on some more. Some of our originals are titled as
THE DRUNKER, STRANGE LOVE, SAVE ME etc....
When we
first recorded ‘The Drunker’ for the Aries Summer Jam 2004,
we received immense response from the public and we were
glad that the people out there have been listening to us.
Many said it was kind of a music they never heard before and
enjoyed till the last beat!
Which one rates better for your band. Cover or original
songs?
Hailstorm:
We get equal response for both the originals and the
cover-ups, however singing our own composed songs makes us
more delighted, after all people are listening to our very
original songs and whenever its played on stage the audience
just loves it. In 2005 we had a concert where we played only
our originals and Gosh! The response was surprisingly
overwhelming. Such experiences really make one take pride
among its members.
For those who haven’t heard you, which song would be the
best to introduce yourself?
Hailstorm:
'I LOVE THE LORD'- PETRA, because it’s the Bands’ one of the
most favourite. Besides this particular number is mostly
requested by fans whenever it’s played in any concert. Don’t
miss the song!
Which is the most memorable venue you’ve played at?
Hailstorm:
SUMMER-JAM 2004. Because that was the first time when the
members got together, first time the band played at a
concert and also the first time to achieve our big break by
bagging the Winners of Summer Jam 2004.
The Bands’ achievements in music so far?
Hailstorm:
Our Band ‘Hailstorm’ has been abundantly blessed. We were
declared the consecutive Winner of Summer Jam 2004 and 2006,
Winner of All Nagaland Open Gospel Beat Contest 2007 and 1st
Runners Up at All Nagaland Autumn Best of the Best Beat
Contest 2005.
Besides in
the individual category we also bagged the Best Lead
Guitarist in the Northeast Open Gospel Beat Contest, and
Best Drummer in the All Nagaland Open Gospel Beat Contest
and in 2005.
What are your personal fashion styles?
Hailstorm:
Fashion is like the season. It comes and goes, so we just
make ourselves comfortable in jeans and tees
What are your future plans?
Hailstorm:
We are planning of releasing our album pretty soon and hand
in hand intent to make our music known not only in Nagaland
but also in the MUSIC LOVING STATES OF INDIA |
